Mental Strength
How do you stay mentally strong in today's unstable world?

Last night I yelled at the TV; the night before I cried; the night before that, I looked at the images in distress. Tonight, I've turned the TV off.
This post discusses mental resilience. Developing mental resilience comes from daily decisions: choose presence, acceptance, connection, and purpose. These consistent choices help you stay true to yourself during challenges.
The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, and a hell of heaven.
The strongest people I’ve written about understand that while they cannot control the storms, they can influence how they weather them.

Topics to be covered
• Mental strength develops through practicing stability in small, daily ways rather than waiting for major crises
• Creating personal anchors—routines, relationships, and values—provides continuity when external circumstances shift
• Distinguishing between what we can and cannot influence preserves mental energy for effective action
• Accepting uncertainty as a natural part of life reduces the additional stress of fighting against reality
• Building multiple sources of meaning and connection prevents over-dependence on any single area of life
• Focusing on our responses rather than trying to control outcomes maintains a sense of agency
• Regular practices that connect us to something larger than immediate worries provide perspective
• Mental strength is maintained through community and individual effort working together
